Archemy is taking part of this year’s Researchers’ Night Festival

Archemy team members (Kristiina, Shidong, Jan-Michael, Sandra and our newcomer Agnes) and the Department of Archaeology staff at the University of Tartu, in cooperation with the Tartu City Museum, will take part of this year’s Researchers’ Night Festival. Event’s topic is about ancient and medieval cesspits and information that can be collected on ancient and medieval diets. Information on all topics will be available throughout the evening.

  • We will talk about what plants have been found from the cesspits and how they are identified.
  • You can also see foodstuffs found from the cesspits
  • We will give an overview of what animals were raised in medieval Tartu and what kind of traces show that they were used for food.
  • Archemy’s research team will present different types of residue analysis that explain ancient and medieval diets.
