Meet Mari!

Mari is the lead of the PaleoMIX team at the University of Tartu. She is a bioarchaeologist and works both at the Department of Archaeology and the Chair of Analytical Chemistry. She studies past people with a focus on their life (mostly diet and subsistence) and death ways. In her research, she applies osteology, archaeology, archaeothanatology, as well as stable isotope studies. Her broadest interests lie in the identities of people who lived in the past and how they were expressed in various practices (such as burial customs and food culture).
